Ergonomic Drafting Chair, Flip-Up Arms, Black Mesh Back

It arrived with a scratch on the base. Also, we couldn't get one of the screws that holds the back rest in because the holes were misaligned. But this chair is pretty comfortable and serves our purpose. It would be nicer if the armrest could be moved up and down.

First of all let me say that this chair LOOKS great. This would be a 5 star review but the chair has crucial faulty parts. Sure, it looks nice and if you never really used it above the minimum height you would never notice the problem; however, the o-rings for the pneumatic cylinder are faulty. It's just junk rubber that corroded and split so the cylinder will hold no pressure and you cannot raise the chair above the minimum height. You'll never see the parts shown in the picture if your chair works (and maybe some will but mine didn't). It's a trio of 3 o-rings: one that holds the rod inside the cylinder (orange one) and another that seals the larger chamber from inside (large black one) and one that seals it from the outside ,or from the smaller cylinder (small black ring). The orange ring is alright but, the rubber or nitrile (whatever they are made of) black rings are faulty and there is no sane way for any consumer to replace these parts: the BEST case scenario would be you could find a replacement cylinder assembly but, GOOD LUCK.

This chair looks very nice in my office, and was very easy to assemble. I've been using this chair for about four months and it has held up very well. I did have to tighten the screws on the bottom once, but I think it was due to me not tightening them enough when I initially assembled it. The only reason I purchased this chair was because I switched to a standing desk. It adjusts perfectly to my standing desk height and the foot rest is adjustable as well. The back support is very impressive, and the cushion is just the right firmness.

This would be a great chair if it wasn't for the small hole in the back mesh! Which as holes do in Mesh faberic is just going to grow in size. But I'm stuck with it as apparently there is NO WARRANTY with this chair. So buyer beware! I would NEVER had purchased this chair if I knew that there was not a warranty. Of the 30 or so office chairs I have ever purchased that has NEVER been the case & is rather shocking! I mean seriously Office Chairs TAKE A BEATING & are not exactly "lightly used" items. I purchased this as a gift & knew it would not be assembled until after the 30 return deadline. But due to travel plans I wanted to make sure I would have it in time. However, as EVERY OFFICE CHAIR I have purchased comes with a minimum of 6 months WARRANTY I figured it would not be a problem if there was any defect. Again an office chair is NOT a decorative item & actually used regularly therefore tilt & lift mechanisms can fail. I had opened the box & quickly reviewed all the items where included as needed. However the hole was not apparent until assembly. Contacted Amazon about this & guess what I can return with in 30 days as there is NO WARRANTY COVERAGE. Guess I can use it as some kind of a plant stand...

After 9 months of every day use, this chair still works, looks like new. No scuffs, tears, dings, flaking, peeling, etc. that others have mentioned. Casters are smooth, mechanism still works (I adjust my chair 1-2 times a day, depending on my activity level.) and cushioning seems unchanged from out of the box.I have back issues so a good chair is essential. This chair has virtually eliminated my back pain from sitting/standing at my desk. It's also quite attractive, good build quality and materials. I was experiencing slippage of the foot ring but once I made sure the inner collar was secure and THEN tightened it down, I have not had any slippage at all. (That's important as I work from home and my Chihuahua insists I maintain a suitably level lap surface when she must supervise my work.)I highly recommend this chair.

To start off this is a very nice chair but ... I know it is not the most expensive but you get a blemish on the back. This appears to be when it is molded. The fabric for the seat and mesh for the back are very nice. Given the blemish and the back surface are not Class A where they are nice and smooth but have some ripples.

Arrived as expected. Box was open. All pieces intact, but shipping damage in 4 places - 2 scuff marks on silver back, and two small slits in seat cushion. Damage did not reduce the usefulness and integrity of the chair.But I wanted to test the size and comfort. I am useless at assembly, but this was easy. And here's the great news - this chair is perfect. Tall enough for my standing desk, tilts back for that spine-straightening stretch we all need from time to time, very sturdy and more visually appealing than expected. Very comfortable, would buy again. I took off a star for really poor packaging and resultant damage. I'm attaching the assembly directions in case anyone needs them.

The Modway Edge Drafting chair is very easy to assemble, manufactured with good materials and is very ergonomic. I bought this chair since it can be raised to the bar height table that I use as my desk at home. I replaced the original casters it came with for aftermarket casters that won't harm or scratch wood flooring. By zooming into the 4th picture, you'll be able to identify the brand of the aftermarket castors or wheels. Overall I am pleased with the ease of assembly. It came with all the hardware with one of each additional, just in case one became lost plus the tools, an Allen wrench. My only negative comment is that the seat is not mesh designed and made of faux leather which can feel hot after sitting for long periods of time. Definitely, though, a good chair to keep you warm in the winter. Of course, if you need the warmth, this chair would be fine. The breathable mesh backing keeps your back cool. This chair is designed to provide good lumbar support for ones back. I rate the lumber support a 3 out of a possible 5, because as with other lumber support products, I feel the lumbar support feature could be desogned closer the tailbone. But, overall I am very happy that I bought the chair.

I purchased this chair because I was in need of a chair that would sit at the right height for a new drafting table I had acquired. Though I am not an architect, I am a graphic designer who loves to draw for fun. After discovering that the drafting table sits (way) higher than a normal desk, I quickly began searching for drafting chairs. I was new to the product market and was unaware of what was a good brand in the drafting world. Thus, I bought this chair.I was a little skeptical because the negative reviews are not encouraging. After a week and a half of owning it, I have not encountered any functional problems with my chair thus far. Cosmetically, the mesh material on the backrest was ripped upon opening it. It appears to be much more adjustable than it actually is. The seat depth is too much, I am 5'4 and it does not allow for proper seating, and the seat depth is not adjustable. Also the armrests....wayyyyy too high. The ring is too small, I had to buy a foot stool, which turned out to be a somewhat imperfect solution. FYI I hacked the seat a bit by taping 2 flat pillows lengthways on it and adding a towel taped into a lumbar support. It needs adjustable arms, adjustable (and reduced) seat depth, and a larger and flater ring. Also space in my room is limited, and the back of this chair juts out far, I had to move a few pieces of furniture to allow for more room to be able to move the seat. I would not buy this again. On the plus side the cushion is soft, and the back rest is properly positioned for lumbar support (if you're taller and seat depth isn't too far). BTW I am studying to be an occupational therapist and we have studied ergonomics in several of my classes...the more you know...

feels sturdy, well built product! one of very few chairs that had everything I wanted. I needed a chair that I could use in multiple ways. I play guitar in this chair so the flip up arms and foot ring are a must. It lowers to the height of a regular desk chair and I can raise it for my drafting table too! It is moderatly comfortable as a desk chair but that could be just because I'm not fully used to it yet. Great chair for the price!

I like this chair so much for myself, that I bought one for all my staff. We now own eight of these. They are comfortable, and easy to use. The oldest chair I own is over six years old, and is still going strong. I am not the most mechanically inclined woman, and I put these together myself.

Not bad overall. Nice and easy to put together despite having no directions. The foot reat however is pretty weak and cheap... Other than that the chair is solid and well built overall! Minimal assembly required! Took me 15min to put together without directions. Over all good product!

The LexMod Edge has features you'd find on a much more expensive chair. My only complaint would be that the footrest ring doesn't tighten very well - fine if you keep it at the bottom but raise it up and it will slide back down after only a couple of hours of use.

I have used this chair for about a year, it is a good chair, I really like that the arms fold up for being close to the desk, the only thing that isn't quite right is the height of the arm rests. I would like to see it produced with adjustable height on arm rests.

So far I Love the drafting stool! I received it earlier than expected and put it together in 30 minutes, rolled it right up to my 39"inch tall desk and got to work! Easy to put together and for the money its a Great buy in my opinion. Very comfortable seat, and the back support is perfect where I need it. For the lower back lumbar support I find the straighter I sit in the chair the better support my lower back gets. Right on Target LexMod, Thank You!

I must have researched 50 chairs looking for just the right one. This chair is fantastic. I needed a chair a bit higher for a standard desk to use my ergonomic keyboard which sits a bit higher than traditional keyboards. I plan on setting up a stand up desk as an alternative in my home office and this chair can do double duty. The arms that fold up, the adjustable footrest and the back which can be firm or flexible is just amazing. I love this chair!

Wow I had high hopes for this chair as it was a little bit more than what I wanted to spend on my water-based income. However, I felt it was worth the investment at the time (after ten days of standing).Unfortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth! Every single time I move in the chair is squeaks and pops and cracks no how matter how much I tighten the screws. If I didn’t have noise canceling headphones I probably would’ve thrown this in the middle of the street by now because it is that annoying!So if you’re looking for A good quality drafting chair… do yourself a favor. Take my advice and keep on looking!

This chair is pretty sturdy. I have had it for a couple of months and no issues. I use it for my home office so it’s pretty comfortable. No complaints at this time. So far great chair!

This chair is not a Herman Miller. It looks like one from afar but its far from it.All that aside, it does what I need it to do, but I'm sure it will only last a couple of years. I use it fully up at all times and stand at my desk as well. Its nice looking and you can get comfy on it, but its not a solid chair. If the manufacturer used a slightly thicker hydraulic, I think it would do it some justice. If you are bigger than 6'3" 240+lbs, this chair is not recommended.
